Hong(1) Yan(2) [13934] I identify the county as Wuyuan because of the continued intermarriage with Wuyuan residents during Song. At the end of the Tang, in order to avoid the disorder (luan), he moved to Raozhou, Leping county. The hereditary occupation of the family was agriculture and sericulture. However, Hong(1) Kuo [870], in the funerary inscription for his uncle, Xin [10159], notes a Hong(1) Ju (not in dataset), who held office in Han and a Hong(1) Xiaochang (not in dataset), who held office in Tang. However, after this the family fell into political obscurity until Yansheng [10154] earned the jinshi. Yan(2)'s descendant, Shiliang [13935], educated his sons and grandsons. Shiliang's son, Bing [13936], continued the tradition and Bing's son, Yansheng, used the jinshi to establish his family branch of the lineage (qijia). Hong Kuo, WJ, Xingzhuang, 1a-1b.
