Kong(2) Yi [15931] He failed the exams and then traveled to the capital and presented a memorial tracing his family genealogy. He must have been able to establish his branch of the lineage as being senior, since his direct descendants became hereditary Wenxuan gong beginning with his son, Yanshi [15932]. Yanshi and his brothers were all granted jinshi equivalencies as was done in the case of Yanshi's son You [15936]. Yi was granted a position as Qufou county jubu on the basis of his original petition. In 986, he accompanied Zhao(1) Taizong [9002] on his expedition North and drowned when leading horses across the Yellow river. CBD, 1, 386. |
