Guo(1) Hui [15966] His father and grandfather both received posthumous titles (as did Hui) on the basis of the merit of his son, Shouwen [10538] (q.v.). Hui, however, was also a commander who served Han and died in battle when Shouwen was still young. Therefore, I start lineage with Hui. Shouwen's funerary inscription notes that Ziyi [19258] was a noted member of the lineage, but does not include him as a man in the direct line of descent. I take this to mean, in combination with address, that this was the Taiyuan branch of the lineage as opposed to the Huayin branch descended from Ting [19232], which segmented early in Han, at least by ca. -80, when Mengru [19234] moved to Huayin. |
