Jiang(1) Cheng [16073] According to Wang(1) Zao, in his funerary inscription for Cheng's great great grandson, Dunti [16079] [Cheng is gaozu], Cheng became powerful in his community and with his son traveled with scholars from the four regions and more than ten of his grandsons earned the jinshi. From this, the Lanqi Jiang became famous. Here, grandsons must mean descendants since the first recorded jinshi are great grandsons Ling [16075] and Yan [454] (see below). Ten may be an exageration since only five Lanqi Jiang jinshi are listed in the Zhejiang TZ. These Jiang are probably related to the Kaihua and Jiande Jiang. Dunti is a nephew of Yan (Jinhua TZ, 18.4b), Yan and Ling are documented great grandsons of Cheng, and Yan is a brother of Shu(2) [16076] and Ling is a nephew of Xun [16074]. |
