Meng(2) Zhixiang [18317] He consolidated, with the general Dong(1) Zhang, commander of Eastern Sichuan (not in records as yet), the Eastern and Western parts of Sichuan and established himself as emperor (I record as king) of the Later Shu in 934. He died a year later and was succeeded by his #3 son, Chang [18318], who ruled until he surrendered to Song in 965 and moved to Kaifeng where he died later in the year. He was made nephew-in-law of the Shatuo Turk general, Li(2) Keyong [18316], who defeated Huang(2) Chao's [3409] top general, Meng(2) Kai, and subsequently put down the rebellion of Huang(2) Chao in 884. My guess is that he may be related to Kai and also to the Hebei, Mingzhou Meng(2), lineage of the empress Meng(2) [20713]. Giles p. 581, etc. |
