Wu(3) Kai [19493] Hymes, p. 302 n. 90-93, identifies Kai's son, Youlin [19494], Wu(3) Shanfu [19499] and Wu(3) Shang [19500] with the other Chongren Wu(3) beginning with Zeng [10087] in the S. Song and I accept his logic. I also treat the kin of Wu(3) Cheng [10084] as direct kin of Zeng, et. al. I am treating all otherwise unidentified Chongren Wu as lineage kin of Kai. Hymes makes a big point about the marriage of Youlin's daughter to Daming resident, Guo(1) Shenxi [956] (q.v.), as evidence for long-distance marriages. Youlin clearly traveled as an official and his daughter was Shenxi's third wife and twenty years his junior. Moreover, Kai has the same mingzi as Guo(1) Shenxi's grandfather, which suggests that these two families may have had affinal links that predated this marriage. |
