Leng(1) Heshu [19543] He is listed in Nanchang FZ, 29.17a as a Yuan dynasty, Zhiyuan 5 jinshi (cyclical year=guiwei). Neither earlier nor later Zhiyuan 5 was a guiwei year. Moreover, neither was a jinshi year. Jiangxi TZ and its source lists him as a Zhzheng 2, renwu cyclical year jinshi, but Nanchang FZ rejects this dating. A grandson of Yingcheng [19538], Jingxian [19544], is listed as a Dade 2 jinshi (1298), but no jinshi sitting in this year either. The Yuan jinshi begin with the 1315 sitting. The TZ preface to the Yuan listings cite Qian(1) Daxin's (not in dataset) conclusions that the Yuan listings are all garbled, which clearly seems to be the case here. I am arbitrarily making Heshu a jinshi by grace at the end of his career in 1283, and Jingxian as a 1315 jinshi, which is the only guess that makes any kind of chronological logic. The only more or less firm conclusion is that both Heshu and Jingxian received some kind of degree under Yuan and that both probably had civil service careers. |
