Wang(2) D [21840] Shortly after earning the jinshi, he was tried for some offense and cashiered from the civil service. He resisted initial attempts to give him a military commission so that a scion of a family of merit would not end his life as a commoner, buyi. He did end up holding military offices, but was buried in 1069 (with funerary inscription), 32 years after death and only after three of his sons had achieved some degree of success.
