Cai(1) Bangzhi [25718] See documentation for son-in-law, Fan(1) Zi [25724]. He is listed as the #2 son of Hong in Hong's funerary inscription, with what seems to be an entirely different ancestry from that cited in the funerary inscription of his daughter, wife of Fan(1) Zi. Since the addresses coincide, the only conclusion is that he became the adopted heir of a 2nd uncle, Yuankang. This explains the posthumous title for Bangzhi's great grandfather, Hu, (in Hong's inscription), since Yuankan's uncle, Zhongyan, would then be a son of Hu and Hong's father, Yan in Xu Han's funerary inscription, which writes that he earned the jinshi, was really Zhongyan (second character the same), and the Zhong was dropped in transcription. |
