I am assuming that he is a member of a branch of the Hongnong Yang(2) that could trace their ancestry to Yang(2) Guangyi [4035], who moved here in mid-Tang. At first, he received his calling from the gate (men) of Wang(2) Anshi [1762] (I interpet this as meaning that he was as menren of Anshi) and was tongxue with Cai(1) Jing [1649], but refused to meet with him after he seized control of the state and people all honored him for his behavior.
