Yu(4) Taixi [7408] Shi(4) Jingheng's [7331] father-in-law. He was listed as a Changzhou, Yixing jinshi in 1049 and was buried in Wuxi county. He was not listed as a Xinzhou, Qianshan jinshi even though his two elder brothers, Taihui [22804] and Taining [22805], were both listed as Qianshan county jinshi and Taining (as Daning) was listed in Piling zhi, 11.8a as a Changzhou jinshin in 1142, and Taihui as a 1046 jinshi in Piling zhi, 11.8a. His son, Mu [22807], is listed as a Qianshan county jinshi and not a Changzhou jinshi, and may have moved back to Qianshan. I will treat Taixi's father, as a migrant to Yixing and his son, Mu, as a migrant back to Qianshan. I am not including the eldest brother in the order of birth because he died early in life. Yu(4) Fan [24879], Changzhou jinshi in 1100 has the same generational name as Taixi's sons. Gui [24878], Changzhou jinshi in 1076, has mingzi with radical 140 in Jiannan TZ, 119.23a, and therefore also has the same generational indicators as Taixi's sons. Since there are no Changzhou Yu(4) jinshi listed before Taixi's brothers, I am assuming that Fang [24877], jinshi in 1073, may have also lost his 140 radical and was a nephew of Taixi. Since there are no Changzhou Yu(4) jinshi between Gui's degree in 1100 and a Yu(3) [24881] (whi I identify as a great grandson of Fang), who earned the degree in 1151, and Fang was purged as a Yuanfu coalition member, the identification gains further credibility since Fang's sons and grandsons would not have been allowed to take the exams during most of the period. Taixi is listed as a Wujin county resident in Jiannan TZ, 129.14a, which is also county of residence listed for Gui and Fan. I keep all as Yixing residents. Jiangsu jin, 9.33a-36b. CBD, 4, 3200. |
