Chao(1) Gu [16054] According to Yuan(1) Fu [10296] in his funerary inscription for descendant, born Chao, wife of Jiang(1) Lin [16058] (q.v.), the family served the Liu Song dynasty and from that time settled in Nankang, Duchang. However, Su(1) Zhe [1493] makes Gu the son of a Meishan farming family. According to Su(1) Zhe, Gu's father, Zhong [16055], was the first member, at least of this branch, of the lineage to become literate and ended his life as a village teacher. Although we are accepting the relationship to Jiang(1) Lin's wife as correct, we are making these two branches of a root lineage rather than ancestor to lineal descendant.
