Pang(1) Anshi [10101] His funerary inscription was drafted by Zhang(1) Lei [12354], who received the jinshi in 980 and died at the age of 56. Therefore, Anshi died sometime between 980 and 1000. He was buried in Jishui county (modern Xishui xian). This funerary inscription, written in ca. 1095, begins with a long statement in praise of the medical profession. Anshi's family's hereditary occupation was medicine and he learned his craft from his father. Zhang Lei, WJ, 59.1a-7b; Zhang Lei, Keshan WJ, 49.1a-7a. Huang Tingjian wrote the postface (houxu) for Anshi's Shang han lun. CBD, 5, 4256.PTC：the description of Zhang Lei in the note is self-contradictory. Zhang's dates are 1054 to 1114. Pang is also Su Shi's friend. It is impossible that his index year is 1000. correction is made according to the tomb inscription. |
